Over 125 folks rallied on Saturday at Beyond Baroque in Venice to fight against Overnight Parking Districts and to support the coalition working to educate locals on the negative impact of OPDs.

Speakers included members from the Venice Action Alliance, the Venice Community Housing Corporation, Occupy Venice, the Venice Beachhead, and numerous individuals from the surrounding community who expressed strong opposition to seeing OPDs get forced on the people of Venice for a third time in six years.
Most concerns involved the financial impact of the fees and fines on residents and visitors and the consequences of OPDs on limiting access to the beach.
Many also spoke to the larger threat posed to the housing and commercial properties by hypergentrification and the criminalization of homeless along the coastline. All were encouraged to attend the upcoming CA Coastal Commision meeting on June 13th in Long Beach and write letters to members of the CCC.”
