The California Coastal Commission is meeting in Marina Del Rey from June 10-12, 2009 at the Marina del Rey Hotel
On Thursday’s agenda, June 11th, the Coastal Commission will hear: Challenges to established Overnight Parking Districts (OPDs) in Venice Applications for new OPDs in Venice. Look at items 9b thru 9h by clicking here.

The Venice Neighborhood Council (VNC) supports OPDs and has advocated for approval of such districts to the City of Los Angeles and the Coastal Commission. However, the VNC is an advisory body and cannot make decisions that result in new or changed ordinances. The City has already approved the districts (and implemented them in areas east of Lincoln Blvd).
In the coastal zone the City and Coastal Commission share jurisdiction – and the Coastal Commission has not yet ruled on OPD’s. The Commission’s decision on June 11th will therefore determine whether existing OPDs remain east of Lincoln Blvd., and/or new OPDs are allowed to be created west of Lincoln Blvd.
Your voice needs to be heard; let the Commission know how you feel about OPDs in Venice! Whether you support or oppose OPDs, the VNC encourages you to attend this public meeting and express your opinion on this and any other items on the agenda.
