Venice Beach real estate rent check: 4 26th Ave.: $40,000 a month.
4 26th Ave is probably my favorite house in Venice. The Greene and Greene craftsman style home was originally built in 1935 and was previously the residence of songwriter Jerry Leiber, who died of cardio-pulmonary failure in August of last year.
Mr. Leiber was best known for his work with Mike Stoller, which included such hits as Hound Dog (Elvis Presley), Jailhouse Rock (Elvis Presley), Stand By Me (Ben E. King), Young Blood (The Coasters), Love Potion #9 (The Clovers), Kansas City (Wilbert Harrison), On Broadway (The Drifters) and Spanish Harlem (Ben E. King).
The single family residence is on Ocean Front Walk and has 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms in 4,034 Sq Ft of living area on a 5,052 Sq Ft lot. It features hardwood flooring throughout, 2 fireplaces, Tiffany stained glass fixtures, entry door and amazing handcrafted wood work. It can be leased totally furnished or unfurnished (Mr. Leiber’s piano appears to still be sitting in the living room), with both short and long term rentals available.
