Hispanic Studies student Blair Bowman, a student at the University of Aberdeen who grew up in Edinburgh, decided that Whisky needed a day of honor. He started WorldWhiskyDay.com and declared the day March 27th. Apparently it was a popular decision, as his website seems to have been bumped offline due to too much traffic.
Mr Bowman explained to the BBC: “I’m hoping that it allows more people to become interested in whisky and could also boost tourism for Scotland.
“Whisky is booming right now, all over the world. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate this famous Scottish export.
