Your real estate questions answered…
Yo! Broker,
I’ve been working with an agent who has one business card for real estate and another card which says he sells mortgages. Is it okay for agents to sell houses and do mortgages?
Amy L. Mar Vista
Dear Amy,
It is legal for agents (with proper licensing) to broker both home and mortgages. But we don’t think it’s all that okay. There is so much information (interest rates, inventory, etc) changing so quickly It’s just plain hard to keep track of evertyhhing.
Also, if an agent has an interest in you buying a home, will that agent get you a great loan or just any loan – which will cost you more money.
Bottom line: we thinking riding two horses at once is for Hollywood stuntmen – not the person handling your purchase and, indirectly, your money.
