The Gerding Edlen Development building at 512 Rose, comprised of 67 units of market rate housing, 7 below market units, 10,000 SF of retail fronting Rose and two levels of subterranean parking is expected to open in March.
Killefer Flammang Architects of Santa Monica designed the building and have said it “will exceed the requirements for a LEED platinum rating”, but Gerding Edlen “intends to seek a LEED Gold certification for the building”.
Café Gratitude, also designed by KFA, will occupy the northwest corner of Rose and 5th Street. A 15’ wide easement at the south side of the property is expected to include edible plants and space for Café Gratitude to grow produce for their restaurant.
A second café and a yoga studio are also expected to open in the retail space.
The 62,000 square foot property was acquired by Gerding Edlen for 8.6 M and was previously the location of the Pioneer French Bakery from 1920 to 2006.
