The Venice Japanese American Memorial Marker Committee (VJAMM) will be holding a commemoration ceremony tomorrow at 10 AM at the northwest corner of Lincoln and Venice to observe the 70th anniversary of the horrific Japanese American internments which started in 1942. A life-sized replica of the VJAMM memorial monument that will be placed at the intersection will be unveiled.
It was at this location that about a thousand persons of Japanese ancestry were made to report for transportation to the “War Relocation Internment Camp” at Manzanar.
Rev. John Iwohara and Councilman Bill Rosendahl will be amongst the speakers.
Hama Sushi bento boxes will be available for lunch from 12:30pm-2:30pm, with 100% of the profits going to VJAMM. Bento boxes are limited!
