The neighborhood, which has always experienced some coyote activity, has seen a significant rise in incidents since March
Residents of Mar Vista are expressing growing concern following a series of aggressive coyote encounters and attacks in recent weeks, according to a report from CBS Los Angeles.
The neighborhood, which has always experienced some coyote activity, has seen a significant rise in incidents since March.
Officials from the Los Angeles County Department of Weights and Measures recently visited the area and discovered a coyote den behind properties lining three residences, according to CBS.
According to the officials, several neighborhood dogs have been attacked, and coyotes are now a daily sight. A group of pups believed to have grown older has resulted in approximately 10 coyotes frequenting the neighborhood.
One resident’s Ring camera captured a coyote brazenly walking behind a man and his dog around 7 a.m. on June 4, while another video shows a coyote slinking through a backyard before bolting towards two small dogs.
Despite residents’ pleas for assistance, they were advised by the county to use airhorns and paintball guns to deter the coyotes from entering their yards and disturbing their pets.
