The Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors and Brookfield Properties Management have worked together to install a system on the exterior walls of Marina del Rey’s two tallest commercial office buildings, located at 4640 and 4676 Admiralty Way and known as the Marina Towers, that will light up the entirety of each building every night.
These lights were installed on both 12-story buildings, which can be seen from Lincoln Blvd and the CA-90 freeway, in hopes of creating a visual landmark that will serve as a centerpiece for the community.
The LED fixtures were designed to project color washes that shine more brightly on the white vertical niches of the exterior walls than on the buildings’ tinted office windows, in order to draw attention to the buildings’ unique architecture. The system also allows for special lighting effects, such as ripples, as well as for colorful light shows that can be used for special events and college football games.
The lights used in the system require little energy and no maintenance, and will run from sundown until 11pm every night, starting on October 20th.
