Thieves Flee to Venice, Helicopters Follow

Shortly after 3 am suspects set off the burglar alarm at the Best Buy in West LA at 11301 West Pico Boulevard. When the LAPD arrived, the men jumped into their U-Haul cube van full of stolen electronics and headed towards Venice in an attempted getaway.

When the vehicle pursuit ended in Venice, the men attempted to flee on foot near Milwood and Electric .. at which point LAPD helicopter started circling with their thermal cameras while officers searched on the ground with multiple K-9 dogs. Hours of searching later, three people were taken into custody.

As of 7:30 am, two suspects are in custody. One was questioned and released, according to Robert Kovacik at NBC. More to come when we get it!

Update: ABC news has a picture from their helicopter. Video is not up yet!

CBS News says “the vehicle and its contents were recovered and the suspects were arrested.”
