After Approximately Eight Minutes, One Stall Door Was Successfully Unlatched
LAFD Firefighters and LAPD officers were dispatched to Venice Beach on Sunday to rescue two individuals trapped inside a public bathroom stall, as documented in a recent YouTube video.
A 20-minute video posted by the YouTube channel @Santa Monica Closeup recorded the incident. According to the video’s description, the distressing scene occurred on May 19 and was due to a malfunctioning door lock.
Two LAFD firefighters are seen attempting to pry open the bathroom stall doors for several minutes using axes and hammers. After approximately eight minutes, one stall door was successfully unlatched. Inside were two individuals who appeared to be experiencing homelessness; one of whom is seen carrying a tire and a large piece of material with him as he walks away from the stall.
After the individuals were freed, the videographer interviewed one of the formerly-trapped individuals who said he was inside the stall for “three or four hours.”
