Signifcant arrest of a Hot Prowl Burglary suspect
Venice Beach/Oakwood community has been plagued with a rash of hot prowl burglaries. A total of eight burglaries were reported within a two-week period in the Venice Beach/Oakwood area. During one of the burglaries, the suspect left behind a backpack containing personal information. Pacific Detectives identified the suspect as Johnny Ward, a male white, 6″00″, 170 lbs, shaggy hair style.
On 2/28/11 at 1130 PM, Pacific Patrol Officers responded to the area of 6th & Rose Ave for a screaming woman. On arrival officers observed several community members detaining a male suspect. In this case, the suspect had broken into the house stealing her personal belongings. As the victim chased the suspect, several neighbors detained him.
Investigations revealed the suspect was identified as Johnny Ward.
Detective’s investigations revealed Johnny Ward is responsible for the recent burglaries in the Venice Beach/ Oakwood area.
With the efforts of the community working with the LAPD, a career criminal is off the streets.
