The man who allegedly raped and beat two women near the Venice Canals in April was due on June 11, Fox11 reported.
Anthony Jones faces a lifetime prison sentence without the possibility of parole over his alleged actions. The trial occurred over two months after the 29-year-old suspect violently assaulted two victims who were taking an evening walk by the canals.
Five days after the attack, and with the help of surveillance footage, law enforcement personnel located Jones in San Diego.
Charges against Jones include two counts of forcible rape, one count of torture, one count of attempted murder, one count of sexual penetration by use of force, one count of sodomy by use of force and one count of mayhem, as previously reported by KTLA.
On June 13 at 7:30 p.m., by the walk bridge on Sherman Canal, a candlelight vigil for Sarah Alden, who lost her life several weeks after being attacked near the Canals, will be held. On Monday, May 20, after several weeks hospitalized and in a coma, Alden was declared brain dead.
