A motions hearing is scheduled in consolidated lawsuits against the city of Los Angeles related to the death of Alice Gruppioni, an Italian woman killed in August 2013.
The suits allege city officials were aware the Venice boardwalk was
often crowded with visitors, but did not put bollards or other traffic impediments in place to prevent Nathan Campbell from plowing through visitors with his car, killing Grupponi and injuring more than a dozen others.
Campbell was convicted of second-degree murder.
