The 9th Annual Tony Sousa Memorial Car Show will be held today at the Santa Monica Pier from 10am-3pm. The show celebrates the Shelby-American automobile company, which was originally located here in Venice (now considered Marina Del Rey) at 1042 Princeton Drive.

The guest of honor will be Peter Brock, designer of the Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe, the vehicle that challenged Europe’s longtime dominance of road racing. Shelby-American founder and automotive legend Carroll Shelby died of an ongoing heart ailment on May 11th of last year at the age of 89.

Net proceeds from the event will benefit the LAPD Pacific Division’s Winter Wonderland toy give away this holiday season.
