Venice Beach Shopping: “Holiday Glam”

“Holiday Glam”: Lori Kingsnorth‘s tips for some great shopping finds around Venice! (Click on all images to make them “real size”!)

A.D.2013

Darin has been performing and making costumes for most of his life. The movie biz recently discovered his talents by featuring 300 of his creations in a Star Trek flick.

A.D.2013

Each garment and accessory is beautifully crafted with incredible detail and definitely have a rock and roll vibe. From the moment you walk in your inner rock star will be released. Make sure you allow time for your visit because there is much to see. I enjoyed choosing garments from this shop for the shoot and have my eye on some gloves for my personal collection!

Darin’s FAV part of the holiday season: both Christmas and New Years & and giving for the sake of giving.

KoKo Venice

Marianne is a true artisan. The bonus of shopping here is that she is often on the premises to tell you the origin of each piece that interests you.

KoKo Venice

Marianne is inspired by travel to places like Italy and Cambodia. She makes everything in the store and you will find a mix of textures that will impress.

Marianne even makes the shoes and they are made with fish leather .. yes .. fish leather! Beauty, detail and quality are in abundance at KoKo. Good to know: KoKo offers a lay away plan!

Marianne’s FAV part of the holiday season: enjoying cookies from her homeland, which is Holland.

Gumbo Kinney Vintage

Jeff started his business in his own backyard. His new shop is quaint and cool and you will be greeted with warmth as if you are a guest in Jeff’s home.

Gumbo Kinney Vintage

Jeff is passionate about all of the collections in the shop, which is filled with one-of-a-kinds. Let Jeff know what you have in mind and he is sure to pull out fantastic surprises for you! Gumbo Kinney Vintage is great shopping for themed parties or cool everyday pieces!

Jeff’s FAV part of the holiday season: setting an incredibly memorable table for a Christmas feast and being surprised while channel surfing and catching part of one of his movies he has produced like “The Christmas List“.

Hip’tique and Minnie t’s

Hip'tique + Minnie t's

Hip’tique: Let’s talk mini!

I love the shine and shimmer of this dress and so happy to have it in this shoot! This dress represents hip’tique perfectly. Christine’s establishment is full of class, full of the life, and full of sparkle.

Casual chic and elegant style is the vibe here. All the current designers are found on Christine’s racks. Take some time to have a seat and chill while visiting here, do not feel rushed, just enjoy the hip’tique experience!

Christine’s FAV part of the holiday season: enjoying her grandmother’s sugar cookies.

Minnie t’s: Let’s talk sleek!

I was walking by this shop and seen this fab long gold dress in the window and rushed in to see if it could be part of this shoot! Inside I met Barbara for the first time and she is the definition of the word fashion. Barbara personally selects the items for her shop and she has a fantastic eye. She is drawn to clothing with uncommon and independent styles, natural fibres and artistic construction.

Good to know: there are two locations for Minnie t’s..one in Venice and another in Culver City

Barbara’s Fav part of the holiday season: family and food!
