The first (hopefully annual) Los Angeles Navy Week started this week in San Pedro. If you would like to check out the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, the USS Princeton, USS Champion or USS Chafee expect long lines but the tours are free! It is the first time an aircraft carrier has docked in L.A. in more than twenty years!
Venice Beach was listed by the USS Abraham Lincoln’s command newspaper The Penny Press as one of the recommended places for the sailors to visit! Unlike San Pedro, Venice was not listed in the “Navy’s guide to scoring drugs“! High praise for intelligence gathering!
As today is the day the main public tours begin in San Pedro on all of the ships, expect to see a bunch of sailors on shore leave around town! Welcome to Venice US Navy!
