The LA Department of Transportation has rolled out “Sharrows” on Abbot Kinney as part of their six-street sharrows pilot project.
The “sharrows” are supposed to remind automobile drivers that they are sharing the road with cyclists and help give cyclists a safety zone away from parked cars opening their doors. The sharrows pilot program follows a similar program implemented in San Francisco.
