The Venice Arts Gallery will host three awesome events this week, starting with an artists talk and reading by Doug McCulloh and Susan Straight this evening from 7-9pm!

On Thursday, there will be a free screening of the award-winning, feature length documentary film “The Last Survivor“. The film follows the lives of four survivors of four different genocides—The Holocaust, Rwanda, Darfur, and Congo—documenting their healing, resettlement, and, eventually, activism.
On Saturday, Venice Arts partners with the Kennedy Center for What’s Going On Now, a national project in celebration of the 40th anniversary of Marvin Gaye’s seminal album. This event will feature an Open Screen sharing video shorts that explore how the themes raised in Gaye’s music continue to resonate today. The evening will also feature the final version documentary short “We Win or We Die,” which focuses on the Egyptian uprising and premiered in workshop form at Venice Arts Gallery last summer; and a selection of short films from Media That Matters.
