On Friday, June 22, the I-405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements Project will begin demolishing the first of eight ramps joining Wilshire Boulevard and the I-405 freeway.
The rebuilding begins with the demolition of the I-405 N off-ramp to Westbound Wilshire and the Westbound Wilshire on-ramp to I-405 N.
The contractor anticipates rebuilding these two ramps in 90 days, however reconstruction of all eight Wilshire ramps is expected to take more than one year.
Councilman Bill Rosendahl is urging patience if you plan to travel near Wilshire Boulevard and the 405 freeway in the coming months. “We have to carpool, we have to plan ahead, and we have to put more time in our schedules,” said Rosendahl during a news conference with County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky to announce the demolition.
For local commutes, Metro is suggesting people use either Sunset Bl or Santa Monica instead of Wilshire.
