National Weather Service Issues Hazardous Weather Outlook

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook warning for the Los Angeles coastal areas. Strong rip currents and strong winds are expected starting late Friday into Saturday morning with a drizzle or light rain expected.

…POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS SURF AND VERY STRONG RIP CURRENTS ARE EXPECTED LATE FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING…

.GALE FORCE WINDS AND POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS SURF WILL EXIST LATE FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH EARLY SATURDAY MORNING. THE HAZARDOUS SURF WILL GENERATE VERY STRONG RIP CURRENTS THAT WILL EXIST ALONG EXPOSED WEST FACING SHORES. A WEST WIND SWELL WILL BUILD TO 8 TO 11 FEET IN THE INNER BASINS FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING. HIGH SURF CONDITIONS MAY EXIST FROM VENTURA HARBOR TO POINT DUME AND POSSIBLY SANTA MONICA SOUTH BAY AND THE WEST SHORES OF SANTA CATALINA ISLAND BY LATE FRIDAY AFTERNOON.

2.8 FEET AT 630 PM PST THEN RISE TO AROUND 5 FEET TO 1230 AM PST

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF CA AND
SOUTHWEST CALIFORNIA.

.DAY ONE…THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT

GUSTY NORTHWEST WINDS WILL CONTINUE TO AFFECT THE AREA THIS
AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT. THE STRONGEST WINDS ARE EXPECTED OVER THE
ANTELOPE VALLEY…THE I-5 CORRIDOR…THE SANTA YNEZ RANGE…THE
CENTRAL COAST AND THE SANTA BARBARA SOUTH COAST. THESE WINDS WILL
CREATE POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS. GALE FORCE WINDS
WILL CONTINUE OVER THE OUTER COASTAL WATERS…WITH HAZARDOUS SEA
CONDITIONS FOR BOATERS. BUILDING SHORT PERIOD SURF WILL CARRY A
INCREASED POTENTIAL FOR DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS.

INTO FRIDAY NIGHT…INCLUDING ALL COASTAL AREAS AND CATALINA
ISLAND…THE SANTA YNEZ RANGE…AND THE ANTELOPE VALLEY. THESE
WINDS WILL CREATE POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS. THE
WINDS WILL ALSO CREATE HAZARDOUS SEA CONDITIONS OVER THE COASTAL
WATERS ALONG WITH BUILDING SURF AND DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS IN THE
SURF ZONE.

DRIZZLE OR LIGHT RAIN WILL DEVELOP ACROSS THE LOS ANGELES AND
VENTURA COUNTY FRIDAY…RESULTING IN WET ROADWAYS AND POTENTIALLY
HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS.
