C.A.V.E. Gallery will host an opening reception for “OIL & WATER” tonight from 6pm – 10pm. “OIL & WATER” features new works by artists Paul Chatem and Mike Davis.

The concepts for the work in “Oil and Water” has been heavily influenced by people, events, and ideals first half of the twentieth century, specifically the motivations of Eminent Domain, water rights in the West, the Civilian Conservation Corps, the Works Progress Administration, the National Recovery Act, as well as the public figures that propelled these projects forward. There are two sides to every story, and while not being literal in the translation of these events, being able to represent this moment in American history with the good and bad in mind seemed of particular importance this time around.
