A high surf advisory has been given for LA County, and currents are very strong. Watch out for the next few days!
From Alexandria:
Two teenagers, approx 14-15 were swimming halfway between Venice Pier and the jetty just north of the pier when both were sucked out by a riptide. One youth struggled to get out of the water gasping for air and help, and his friend was retrieved looking lifeless from the water just afterwards.
Paramedics worked on the one boy for a while to revive him and both are being taken to the hospital as we speak. They both were severely deprived of oxygen and did NOT look like they were in good shape… but the F.D. and local lifeguards were quick to the scene and both boys were conscious as they were transported up to the parking lot.
