Bloody-Faced Woman Who Led Police on 405 Pursuit Initiated Chase in Venice

A Photo Shows Her Appearing Viciously With an Open Mouth

By Zach Armstrong

A photo of a bloody-faced woman made plenty of buzz over the weekend. After police pursued her on a high-speed chase through the Westside, she eventually drove the wrong way on the 405 and crashed into several vehicles. The photo, as seen in the Los Angeles Times and KTLA-TV among other outlets, shows her appearing viciously with an open mouth as authorities escorted her in handcuffs.

The woman, according to a release from LAPD, initiated the incident in Venice. Near 3rd and Rose avenues, police responded to a report of a suspect acting erratically before 5 a.m. on Friday. The chase began around there after she rammed her white van into a police cruiser and drove off. She led police through Santa Monica and Brentwood. During the pursuit, the woman made a U-turn before crashing into vehicles at full speed near the Wilshire Boulevard exit.

The suspect was taken into custody following the crash and was transported to a local hospital. Five officers suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department.

Like something straight out of a nightmare, images of the woman show blood smeared across one side of her face and, in most of the images, showing her teeth which were also red.

The identity of the woman or whether she is a Venice resident is unclear at the time of this writing.
