Last Friday there was a ceremony to celebrate the installation of one of the largest solar photovoltaic systems in Venice Beach at The Sidewalk Café. With this system The Sidewalk Café expects to meet 100 percent of its office and storage units’ energy needs with the newly installed 25 kilowatt system which converts direct sunlight into electric power.
Councilman Bill Rosendahl presented the café with a certificate of appreciation for the decision to switch a majority of their energy consumption to solar energy, and officials from the Department of Water and Power (DWP) presented an over sized check representing the rebates available under DWP’s solar installation program for commercial and residential property owners.
In attendance were Los Angeles City Councilmember Bill Rosendahl, Arasha Saidi of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Jay Goodfader, owner of the Sidewalk Café and Joyce Brunelle, the president of Suntricity, Inc.
