Today is the “biggest volunteer day on the planet”, Heal the Bay’s Coastal Cleanup Day. The official event lasts until noon, but as sea side residents, we Venetians can and should clean up our bay on a daily basis.
Watch this short but shocking film by Chris Jordan, it will help inspire you to keep our world clean.
Last year in California alone, 62,668 volunteers participated in Coastal Cleanup Day. 728,289 pounds of trash and 143,291 pounds of recyclable waste from over 1,500 miles were cleaned up. Los Angeles County boasted over 50 cleanup sites located at various beaches and inland waterways.
If everyone picked up just a little bit, our world would be a better place. Then again, as the saying goes … “at least the war on the environment is going well”.
