On Tuesday, August 2nd, the LAPD Pacific Division and local community groups will participate in the second annual “National Night Out”. Billed as “America’s Night Out Against Crime”, the informal neighborhood gathering will start at 6pm at the Mar Vista Gardens Rec. Center. The evening is a chance for residents to meet and discuss community issues with members of the LAPD while playing a friendly softball game.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
