How to Invite Your Dog to Your Wedding (And Ensure the Humans Show Up, Too!)

From adorable canines to fancy felines, lovely bunnies, and charming llamas, pets have been marking our hearts and weaving their enchantment into our lives for as long as we can remember. They are loyal companions who have seen us through the greatest and sometimes the darkest seasons of our lives.

Understandably, you would want your pet by your side on your wedding day, continuing to create memories with you. To ensure you have the greatest experience possible at your pet-friendly wedding, below is a guide to walk you through the planning process, complete with creative ways to represent your dog.

Ensure that the Venue is Pet-Friendly

Check the pet regulations at your venue before you start organizing anything. They may be willing to make an exception for you even if they are not normally pet-friendly and might need you to have pet liability insurance. If your dog is not allowed, try shooting a picture at a separate site or having them come by while you are still getting ready.

Let Your Human Guests Know Ahead of Time

Your dog’s participation could provide fantastic entertainment for your guests while they wait for the ceremony or reception to begin, but think about your entire guest list first. Are there any allergies to consider, or is there someone who is particularly afraid of dogs? If you plan ahead of time, everyone will feel welcome on your big day.

Give Your Furry Guest Lots of Treats

Pets can get overwhelmed too. CBD’s health benefits do not get restricted to people, and manufacturers have started inventing tempting snacks that will not only make your dog drool over but will also provide him with a slew of health benefits. Providing CBD treats for dogs could help them relieve their anxiety and continue with the big event with no problem.

Is the Wedding Decor and Venue Safe for Your Dog?

Choosing the ideal wedding favor is no easy task. There are numerous factors to consider, and you do not want to make any errors. Because your wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event, you want to leave a lasting impression with your wedding favors. Continue reading to learn how to choose the right wedding favors for your guests.

Weddings can be sensory overload for some pets. Discuss the aspects of the wedding where you would like to involve your pet and what is most important. They can perform their “pawfect part” in your wedding without sacrificing their comfort with a little preparation.

Include Your Dog While Having Realistic Expectations

Pets come in all shapes and sizes, as well as characters and temperaments. You may have fantasized about having your pet attend your wedding and playing a prominent role in your dog-friendly ceremony. However, carefully examine what your pet can manage on your big day before you get too far into the planning process.

Are they prone to become overly enthusiastic and disrupt key moments during the reception? While seeing you go down the aisle may bring tears to your partner’s eyes, it may be too much for your furry buddy to bear, and they may want to speak up. Take into account how your pet will react to a sound system that includes a musician, singer, or amplified voices.

Take Pictures with Your Dog

If you do not want to put your dog in a suit or cannot figure out how to include them, you can always have them in one or two of your wedding photos. If your dog is not ready for a long engagement, consider how thrilled they will be to be a part of your wedding for a few hours instead. Just a few moments will do. When scheduling photographers, let them know your dog will be there so they can compile an animal-friendly shoot list ahead of time.

Do Not Let Your Dog Roam Around On Its Own

Consider how at ease they will be with all the extra love and attention. If your pet is amiable, include them in the meet and greet group on the way in so they can take advantage of the extra attention. If not, consider having them in your early preparations and your getting-ready photos. Snuggles and pictures with your beloved pet before your wedding can provide you with the additional comfort and support you may require to calm any nervousness or last-minute anxieties.

In the end, you have to remember that your dog is going to be a minor part of the festivities between toasts, dances, photos, and the blur that is your wedding day. That means accommodations for fido after the ceremony or whenever he should be parting ways with the bride and groom. As is popular in Southern California, slight getaway weddings North near the bay area or south around San Diego are popular but that means your dog won’t be staying at home or maybe even at your hotel if the wedding venue is not pet friendly. Checking out the venue, hotel policies, or the areas surrounding your Airbnb in advance can prevent a nightmare situation of your dog getting out and running away during the reception.

A wedding day is one of the most important days one can have. It is perfect for spending and sharing time with loved ones and even pets. Just take all the necessary precautions and planning to ensure that the furry ones will enjoy it, too.
