4 Foods That Will Make Your Skin Glow

There are a lot of things that can affect the health of your skin. We all desire beautiful skin that doesn’t seem to age, no matter how much time passes. And while we do have some control over the health of our skin based on the foods that we eat, other factors such as the skincare products that we choose, whether or not we smoke, and genetics all play a big part in healthy skin.

One of the first things people notice about us is our skin, and the health of your skin doesn’t only make you look better; it helps you to grow older gracefully. While choosing the right skincare products is important (clean and zero waste skincare products, preferably), these ingredients will only get your skin so far. In addition to using proper skincare, it’s important that we know how to take care of our bodies, too.

Essential Foods For Glowing Skin

The real secret to beautiful, hydrated, and glowing skin that keeps you looking healthy and young is in the foods that you eat. It’s been proven that people who eat a healthy diet have healthy skin. By simply adding the following healthy foods, you will offer your skin protection against inflammation, redness, and dryness.

Avoiding refined carbohydrates and dairy will improve acne and other skin conditions. Foods such as pasta, bread, crackers, white rice, sodas, and sweeteners increase your blood sugar levels, causing your insulin levels to rise, which leads to skin issues. These are often the foods that cause allergies and result in inflammation and skin problems. By eliminating them from your diet, you’ll improve your overall health and reduce or eliminate acne.

Collagen, omega-3’s, vitamins, and antioxidants play an important role in skincare. Most people lack the necessary nutrients and vitamins they need for a healthy body. These nutrients will hydrate and protect your skin from damage while improving your overall health,

Apples promote the production of collagen, and we all know how important this is for the elasticity of our skin. But there’s more. Apples contain copper, which helps to produce melanin which protects your skin from the sun. Eating apples daily will leave your skin glowing, elastic, and protect against sun damage.

Avocados are packed with antioxidants that aid in hydrated and radiant skin. This healthy fat also offers you protection from sun damage and improves your complexion.

Flaxseeds are loaded with omega-3s and fiber, which aids in better-hydrated skin, less skin irritation, and reduces redness. Omega-3s nourish your skin from the inside out, helping you to retain moisture and prevent dry, cracked skin. You can easily incorporate this into your diet by adding it to your smoothie.

Dark Chocolate is more than just dessert. It’s filled with antioxidants that will protect your skin and protect it from premature skin aging. Eating dark chocolate that is at least 75% cacao will offer you the glowing skin that you desire, protection from oxidative stress that encourages aging, and satisfaction for that sweet tooth.

The Importance of A Healthy Lifestyle

It’s not necessarily about specific foods; rather, it’s about being healthy. Eating a healthy diet that provides you with a sufficient amount of protein, healthy fats, and the necessary vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and other nutrients is what’s most important.

Start by eating plenty of fruits and vegetables and adding more nuts, seeds, and beans into your diet.  Limit the amount of junk food you’re eating, and you’ll begin noticing a difference in the way that you feel and how your skin looks.

Taking care of your skin from the inside out is essential, and it’s never been easier than it is today to get started. You have a ton of options when it comes to cleaning your face with good skincare products that have limited chemicals to help maintain your glowing skin, choices of great supplements for your daily intake of nutrients, and food options to make healthy choices.

Smoothies are a great way to begin incorporating healthy foods into your daily routine. There are plenty of smoothie recipes that are delicious while providing you with all of the necessary nutrients and vitamins that you need to maintain a healthy body and beautiful glowing skin.
