A 25-year-old woman was injured on Monday when she was run over by a Los Angeles County lifeguard truck rushing to an emergency scene with its lights and sirens going in Venice.
The collision occurred on the beach in the 1500 block of Ocean Front Walk at 4:24 p.m., said Officer Sara Faden of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Officials said a lifeguard did not see the woman lying in the sand when he ran her over.
CBS reports her injuries were not life threatening and she was able to give a statement to police Monday night.
An investigation is under way.
This isn’t the first time a sunbather has been run over on local beaches this year. On the morning of May 14, a 49-year-old woman was struck and seriously injured by a county beach maintenance vehicle while she was sunbathing on the Via Marina Peninsula beach, just north of the main channel of the Marina del Rey Harbor.
