From Committee Chair Bernard Parks via The Venice Neighborhood Council:
Dear Neighborhood Council Board Members and Stakeholders:
I would like to invite you to attend a special field hearing of the Los Angeles City Council’s Education & Neighborhoods Committee.
As the new Chairman of the committee, I am committed to working with you to strengthen and reform our Neighborhood Councils and the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment to increase civic engagement and participation in Los Angeles city government.
I want to get your input, to hear your thoughts and ideas on issues such as neighborhood council elections, financial record-keeping and accountability, standardization of neighborhood council bylaws and reforming the flawed redistricting program.
The committee will hold four special meetings throughout the city with a more convenient evening start time of 6PM, to encourage maximum participation.
