Like Venice, Ocean Park started as a place of ballrooms, amusement, piers, delicatessens, and street fairs. In the 1950s, it was home to the Lawrence Welk show. A decade later, Jim Morrison and the Doors were regulars at “The Cheetah.” After that there were fires, the POP cove and eventual ruin in the winter of 1974-75
