As noted before, The California Coastal Commission will be meeting again to discuss Overnight Parking Districts (OPD’s) at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 9th, 2010. Thursday, June 10th, 2010.
Whichever way you feel about the Overnight Parking Districts, you really ought to let the coastal commission know what you think. Every signature really does count on this issue. Show up in person for the meeting if you can, but that will be difficult for people with jobs as the meeting is on a Wednesday during the work week.
Online, there are petitions for both sides.
The “Yes on OPD’s” online petition, sponsored by “The Venice Stakeholders Association”, can be found by clicking here. It is a big issue, and not to overly simplify it .. but … sign this one if you want to try and get rid of all the people living in their RV’s in Venice.
The “No on OPD’s” online petition, sponsored by “Venice Action”, can be found by clicking here. Once again, it is a big issue, and not to overly simplify it … but … sign this one if you want all the people living in their RV’s in Venice to remain undisturbed while sleeping in their vehicles.
An odd thing is that if you look in the comments sections hardly any of the people voting against OPD’s live anywhere near Venice. I guess they don’t understand how bad this issue has become for the residents that live here.
Here is a fast and direct way to have your opinion heard too:
