LA Councilmember Bill Rosendahl will moderate a forum on the recently released Santa Monica Airport air pollution study tonight, January 11, 2010 starting at 7pm at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church. Also in attendance will be Los Angeles City Councilmember Jan Perry, Assemblymember Ted Lieu, Professor Suzanne Paulson from UCLA and Bill Piazza from the LAUSD.
This public forum is held in light of the results of a recently released UCLA air monitoring study detailing the impacts of air pollution emitted from the Santa Monica Airport into surrounding residential neighborhoods.
Featured speakers will be Professor Suzanne Paulson, lead scientist for the recently published UCLA air monitoring study on aircraft emission impacts into North Westdale; and Bill Piazza, Los Angeles Unified School District, Office of Environmental Health and Safety, who prepared the 1999 LAUSD risk assessment on the downwind extent of emissions from Santa Monica Airport.
The forum is sponsored by the North Westdale Neighborhood Association and Concerned Residents Against Airport Pollution. The public will have an opportunity to comment and ask questions. Free onsite parking and street parking is available and light refreshments will be provided.
