From Councilman Rosendahl:
Event to celebrate temporary closure of Santa Monica Airport
Councilmember Bill Rosendahl will join residents for the timely “Santa Monica Airport Peace and Quiet Vigil” scheduled for Monday, September 20, 5-7PM, at the northwest corner of Lincoln Boulevard and Rose Avenue in Venice.
The public vigil will coincide with the temporary closure of Santa Monica Airport (SMO) for runway maintenance. During this time, all aircraft operations will cease for four full days starting 9:00 PM, Sunday, September 19 through 7:00 AM, Friday, September 23.
Every resident affected by noise, air pollution and safety concerns related to SMO are invited to attend. These areas include Sunset Park, Ocean Park, Mar Vista, West LA, Cheviot Hills, Pacific Palisades, Brentwood and Venice.
“Every person who’s worried about the health risks and aggravation caused by Santa Monica Airport should attend this event,” Rosendahl said. “This is an opportunity to enjoy what will hopefully someday become the way of life, peace and quiet in our neighborhoods.”
The event is being sponsored by Concerned Residents Against Airport Pollution (CRAAP).
