Shortly before 1am this evening, a pedestrian walking in the northern east-west crosswalk at Lincoln and Venice Blvd. was struck and killed by an automobile.
LAPD officers on the scene were not aware of the vehicle driver being in police custody and did not have a victim description to release.
The intersection of Lincoln and Venice will most likely be closed for a few hours.
Update: The victim was apparently a homeless man, and this accident was a “hit and run”. LAPD is looking for what witnesses described as a black or grey compact sedan. The vehicle should have damage on the front. Call 800-222-8477 if you have any information!
Update 2: NBC News says that LAPD is looking for a black Prius that should have front end damage.
Update 3: NBC Reports: An anonymous tip sent via the Internet led to the arrest of the woman who allegedly fatally struck a man with her car in Venice Friday morning and fled the scene.
Kara Kiehle, 33, of Venice, was arrested at her home about 3:20 p.m. Friday and booked on charges of felony hit-and-run, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Inmate Information Center. She is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
