Halloween costumes are big business for both kids and adults. Rather than buy a one-time Halloween costume and then place it in storage until it’s thrown away, try swapping it! Trade your gently used and clean costumes and save a ton! Donate costumes for kids in need!

The Mar Vista Community Council, Mar Vista Farmers Market and Los Angeles Costume Swap are hosting a “GREEN-o-ween” costume-swap event this Sunday, October 9th from 9am-2pm at the Mar Vista Farmers Market!
Kids and adults will get the chance to swap new-to-them costumes, saving money and the environment instead of buying new ones that often contain unsafe materials and end up in landfills.
Bring a costume, swap a costume. Bring 3, swap 2 and donate 1 to a local homeless child or teenager! There will also be pirates, face painting, a masquerade troupe, speakers, resources and a trashion Show!
Mar Vista Farmers Market
9:00 am to 2:00 pm
Grand View at Venice Boulevard, 90066
Thanks to Andrea for the heads up!
From the costume swap organizers:
The organizers are looking for volunteers for the day of the event!
Volunteers for set-up 7 am to 9 am
Volunteers for take-down 2 pm – 3 pm
The nationwide Costume Swaps will help reduce landfills by 6200 tons. . .and that’s only if half the kids in America swapped costumes!
We advocate crafting, books, safe toys and healthy or sugar-free trick-or-treat items in place of candy. There will be activities for the entire family to enjoy throughout the day.
Pirates, Face Painting, Masquerade troupe, Speakers, Resources and a Trashion Show!
Los Angeles Costume Swap is a non-profit group whose goal is to help children learn to embrace their imagination and celebrate what is healthy for both themselves and the planet.
