From Councilman Rosendahl:
Friends-
Some of our amazing, local grassroots environmental leaders and I want to invite you to a special series of free workshops to help you to live in better harmony with the environment.
Call it sustainability, green living, or eco-conciousness. There is a movement growing across the country, across Los Angeles, and especially in our neighborhoods, to live cleaner, spare our natural resources, and help the environment. It’s easy and our friends from Sustainable Works want to show you how rewarding it is.
The workshop being offered is the Sustainable Works Green Living Workshop. A group of my Mar Vista neighbors took the workshop and raved about it. They reduced their water and power bills while helping the environment.
This workshop does more than just teach people ways to save energy and reduce water usage. Sustainable Works will also examine your ecological footprint and help you become more aware of your everyday consumption.
I was so impressed that I was able to secure a $45,000 grant from LADWP to fund a pilot program offering five more workshops plus 20 FREE 3 month business greening consults. The first of these FREE workshop series starts on August 30th in the Palisades at the Aldersgate Retreat Center – you can find more info here. The second series begins on October 5th and will be held at the Bundy Campus of Santa Monica College – find the details here.
We’ve seen how energy saving tips can help keep more money in your wallet. Mar Vistan Sherri Akers (MVCC Green Committee) is convinced that OUTREACH, EDUCATION AND CONSERVATION can offset any water and power rate increases in our future.

Bill Rosendahl
