National Weather Service Issues Coastal Hazard Message


The National Weather Service has issued a “Coastal Hazard Message” for Los Angeles beaches. If you can’t make it down to the beach to look at the big waves, check out the Venice Beach Live Cam (where you can also watch someone filming something right now).

…High surf advisory remains in effect until 2 pm pst Friday… surf… Surf will range from 4 to 7 feet today with local sets to 9 feet… Then will slowly subside tonight and Friday.

Impacts: ocean activities will be potentially dangerous for anyone.

Precautionary/preparedness actions… A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area… Producing rip currents and localized beach erosion.

Santa Barbara is expected to have 9 to 12 feet today which will gradually subside to 8 to 10 feet tonight and Friday, with Ventura being similar.
