Urgent – weather message: Strong and gusty offshore winds through Saturday…

Surface high pressure will continue to build into the great basin today… resulting in a strong and gusty Santa Ana wind event for Ventura and Los Angeles Counties through Saturday. The strongest winds will occur across the mountains … Where periods of potentially damaging gusts over 60 mph will continue. The winds should abate quickly by late Saturday afternoon …with localized northeast winds lingering Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Los Angeles County coast including downtown Los Angeles- including the cities of …Malibu …Santa Monica …Beverly Hills… Hollywood … Long beach

…Wind advisory remains in effect until 3 pm pst Saturday…

* winds…Areas of northeast 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph are expected from malibu to the Hollywood Hills.

* timing…These winds will continue through saturday afternoon. The strongest winds are expected tonight and early saturday morning along Malibu.

* impacts…Winds this strong can make driving difficult especially for high profile vehicles. Highway 1 and interstate 405 will likely be affected.
