New just in from Kris at the VNC:
Hey Everyone,
WE HAVE A LOT GOING ON FOR THIS NEXT MEETING, SO PLEASE COME THIS WEDNESDAY – WE NEED HELP ON A LOT OF ENVIRONMENTAL INITIATIVES. INVITE YOUR GREEN FRIENDS!
I’m happy to announce that Jane Paul from Green L.A. will be joining us at our next meeting. Jane will be giving us information about the green business program (http://www.environmentla.org/ Look under the “Proposed Green Business …” link in the left column) – if you have specific questions or other ideas on how to implement this program in Venice, please let me know.
Also, I’ve attached the LA Solar Plan for your light reading. For those of you into Renewable energy, we will take a moment to discuss this during the meeting next Wed. Mike Newhouse and I also attended a meeting on the Green Gardening program that’s being planned by the Bd. of Public Works. I’ll tell you all about that as well.
Lastly, the “First Saturday Sweep-up” was successful. Brennan, Ferris, Luis and I were able to clean most of Abbot Kinney in roughly 2 hours. I realized that we need to reach out to businesses before First Fridays and ask them to put out extra waste bins and several cans for cigarette butts. I’d like to get some people who’d be interested in starting a marketing campaign that will urge people to throw their cigarette butts in the trash and raise awareness of where those butts go when they don’t.
Take a look at the Agenda, and I’ll see you all there! – Nick
