Live Clean, Surf Clean- Sept 22nd

S. U.R.F. — a new non profit organization created to develop resources for and assist surfers and surf industry employees gain recovery over drug addiction and/or alcoholism — will hold its second benefit to offer scholarships for those in need of sober living arrangements. The benefit will be held at Epoxybox in Venice, CA. (located at 602 Venice Blvd.) on Sept. 22nd, 2007 from 7:00 PM ’til 12:00 AM. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Tickets are available online at www.surfrecovery.org and at Rock’er Board Shop at 12204 Venice Boulevard Mar Vista, CA 90066 (310) 397-8300 or call Jennifer at 310.482.1480.

The evening will feature musical performances by the critically acclaimed band, Universal Recording artist Astra Heights (www.astraheightsmusic.com) and well known surfer/singer Porno for Pyros’ Peter Di Stefano. The exhibit will include both surf photography and art; featuring the works of legendary photographer/writer/journeyman Jamie Brisick (www.jamiebrisick.com) and artist Robb Havassy (www.havassyart.com) as well as local photographers Aliza Almarez , Charlie Diaz and Jake Colman. All photography on exhibit will be for sale and proceeds will benefit S.U.R.F. Surfer/director Shayne McIntyre will showcase his FUEL TV film series ” On Surfari” (www.fueltv.com) on the outdoor screen and local personality/surfer Solo Scott will MC the event. Free food and drinks (including beer for those 21 and over) will be served. A raffle will be held including a Channel Islands quad fin surfboard, surf gear, two Arbor skateboards, gift certificates and a silent auction will also be held featuring original donated artwork of well-known surf artists Plus much more. Confirmed sponsors thus far are Quiksilver Edition, Echo Malibu, Chocolate Sun, Arbor Skateboards, Karl Strauss Beer, Izze Soda, DaKine, Lusso Labs and Hint Water
