Tony Azevedo, Tamika Catchings, and Kerri Walsh Jennings will join the United States Olympic Committee Today, Saturday July 23, in Los Angeles, as the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team is announced during the Road to Rio Tour presented by Liberty Mutual Insurance on Venice Beach. The live announcement show will take place at 1800 Ocean Front Walk at 12:45 p.m. PT and will air on @TeamUSA via Periscope and Twitter.

The show will be hosted by four-time Olympic champion swimmer Janet Evans, who is also the vice chair of LA 2024, which is working to bring the Olympic and Paralympic Games back to the U.S. for the first time in over two decades.

The announcement will feature a pair of soon-to-be five-time Olympians in Azevedo and Walsh Jennings. Azevedo, who was born in Rio de Janeiro, will be captaining the men’s water polo team and looking for his second medal, while Walsh Jennings will be vying for her fourth straight gold medal in beach volleyball. They will be joined by Catchings, who will be seeking for her own fourth straight Olympic gold medal on the basketball court.

More than 550 athletes will be officially named to Team USA, which will compete in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro from Aug. 5-21.

The Road to Rio Tour presented by Liberty Mutual Insurance will be staged at Venice Beach on July 23 and 24 from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. It is free and open to the public, and will be the last stop of the tour before the Rio Olympics.

The weekend will also feature meet and greets with Team USA athletes, interactive events including the long jump, high jump, high dive and zip line; virtual reality experiences; giveaways and sponsor engagement activations; and live musical performances.
