The first Venice Art Crawl of 2016 is happening Thursday March 17th and in honor of St. Patrick’s Day “Green” is the theme. Recycled art, “Leave No Trace” signs made by local artists, and a green-lit Venice sign will be some of the features at Windward Circle.
An information booth, located at Danny’s Venice, 23 Windward Ave., will have maps for events and Danny’s will be showing ART’ravenous a celebration of life, art, poetry, music, theatre, and comedy. Another VAC info booth will be at AUST, 1219 Abbot Kinney Blvd.
Other highlights of the Crawl are:
The Sunny Bak Studio located at 2214 Pacific Ave. which will highlight assemblage artist Dr. Louis D’Elia who will be presenting: “Impersistence of Memory”, six artworks which he calls “rolling conundrums” with the themes of identity, role expectations and the quick passage of time.
One of the evening’s sponsors, designer Robert Graham will feature his clothing, in an artistic show of its own, at his 1326 Abbot Kinney Blvd., location.
The Cat Club will be showing a Cat Art Show and cat adoption at Fringe Salon at 1605 Abbot Kinney Blvd., and invite those on the crawl to “come get your “purr” on.”
Bank of Venice at 80 Windward Ave. will present the work of WalterChism a long time Venice resident featuring his art: “Photos of Venice Life”.
Plancha Taco, 2024 Pacific Avenue, will feature LORE Productions presenting Fine Art Artists, the artwork of Marcus Pollitz, Heribito Luna, Chavez Art and Luis Huffington.
LA Louvre Gallery, 45 North Venice Blvd., is showing assemblage artist Kienholz Televisions.
Sculptor David Tanych and painter Meryl Lebowitz will be hosting an opening at the Art Shack-Teau at 1008 5th Ave. There will be a 7pm unveiling of David’s latest, larger-than-life, steel and redwood sculpture. This piece will be a new addition to his “Tools of the Trade” series, displayed on the corner of Westminster Avenue and 5th Avenue. The unveiling will be followed by a BYOB opening with live music by New Orleans’ funk band, The Gumbo Brothers.
