Although we don’t know the whole story behind the situation, we have gotten a lot of messages today from people upset at the possible eviction of Pepy’s Galley (don’t bother clicking, their site is down from all the traffic) from the AMF Mar Vista Lanes bowling alley. Community members have sent us links to their Facebook page, and a petition page, and it looks like there’s a pretty decent groundswell of support.
UPDATE: Looks like Councilmember Mike Bonin has weighed in:
Mike Bonin Folks – no need to trek to City Council meetings, which are held in downtown Los Angeles at 10 am M, W, F. I’m your City Councilmember, and I’m with you on this already! I will be part of the Rally for the Galley, and will do all I can to help, including promoting this effort and the rally. (FYI – There are no public hearings on this issue because the owners aren’t applying for any discretionary items from the City. We can’t legally require the owners to keep Pepys, but we sure can show them how integral the restaurant is to the community and try to convince them that keeping Pepys will be good for their business model.)
