From our pals over at laist:
The American Kennel Club has released their list of the Most Popular Breeds of 2010, and in Los Angeles, the bulldog remains our top dog. For the second year in a row, the bulldog ranks #1 in Los Angeles; the AKC use registration data for zip codes to come up with their rankings.
The top 5 Most Popular Breeds in Los Angeles in 2010:
1. Bulldog
2. German Shepherd Dog
3. Labrador Retriever
4. Yorkshire Terrier
5. Golden Retriever
Among the Changes in Los Angeles’ Rankings:
* The Labrador Retriever seems to be slowly falling out of favor in L.A., with the German Shepherd Dog overtaking it for 2nd place.
* The Golden Retriever fell two spots to 5th place, being pushed there by the Yorkshire Terrier.
* The Shih Tzu entered the top 10 at number 8 last year.
“Los Angeles has spoken and the Bulldog is here to stay,” said AKC Spokesperson Lisa Peterson. “While the Bulldog is slowly moving up the ranks nationally, L.A. has made the breed its top dog for the second year in a row, trending ahead of the rest of the country.”
