Tomorrow morning while many Venetians are just climbing into bed, a whole bunch of really healthy people are going to be swimming, biking and running across Los Angeles at the 9th Annual Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Triathlon.
At 6 a.m. the triathletes will start by swimming around in the water near the main Venice lifeguard tower to the Pier as shown on the map. After that they switch to bicycles and ride around on those down Venice Blvd. to downtown L.A. and then they run all around there. No extra points for style, it is just who gets there first. There are amature and professional classes with many recent Olympians and all of the greats in the sport competing. Defending champion Aussie Greg Bennett will be back to contest his title as will Los Angeles Triathlon champion Becky Lavelle.
UPDATE: Bennett and Lavelle won the 2008 LA Triathlon
A lot more information can be found by clicking here. Expect 25 miles of street closures from Venice Beach to downtown L.A. begin at 6:00 A.M. on Sunday morning.
