The Venice High School community has been left heartbroken today after 15 year old student, Joe Tachiki was taken off life support yesterday.
Venice High School principal Dr Oryla Wiedoeff confirmed there will be a prayer vigil to support the Tachiki family tonight, Sept 30 at the Venice Free Methodist Church 4871 S Centinela Ave, Los Angeles from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM.
Family friend Steve Thompson shared information on his Facebook page saying Joe had been diagnosed with two sets of unruptured aneurysms a couple of weeks ago. “He underwent surgery to fix one of the aneurysms last Wednesday and was in recovery, awaiting discharge, when the second aneurysm near his brain stem hemorrhaged on Sunday night,” wrote Thompson.
After running a brain stem activity test yesterday doctors found Joe did not respond. He was taken off life support yesterday evening. Joe’s organs were donated. Family friends say this was the kind of selfless act they believe Joe would have chosen.
