This year’s Bike Week will take place from May 16 – 20, 2011! If you don’t already, try and use your bike more than your car! Write down your bike serial number while you are at it!
From the LADOT Bike Blog:
This year’s theme for Bike Week LA is Bike Friendly LA. Since last year’s event, a lot has changed to make greater LA (and Los Angeles proper) a better place to ride a bike. For starters, our own City of Los Angeles has recently passed its long awaited 2010 Bike Plan, and has installed a number of new bikeways (and enjoyed CicLAvia two times over). Metro has recently lifted its bicycle restrictions on Metro Rail during peak hours. Los Angeles County is diligently working on their Bicycle Master Plan update. Culver City has passed its first ever Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan.
A kick off event will be held on May 16th at the North Hollywood Metro Red Line Station at 8:30 am.
On Tuesday May 17th, the annual Blessing of the Bikes will take place at Good Samaritan Hospital from 8:00 am to 9:30 am. Blessings will begin at 8:00 am with breakfast and bike check-ups provided!
