It’s a chance to eat well and do a whole lot of good this weekend at the 10th Annual Venice BBQ. The free event happens this Saturday July 30th at Oakwood Park. “It’s one of the greatest community gatherings all year” says VNC Secretary Melisa Diner.
Venice Station 63 firefighters will be serving up a feast of chicken and pork grilled up by master chef Barklie Griggs and his MOAB (Mother of All BBQ) team.
The BBQ is run as a pot luck and neighbors are invited to bring a side dish, or desert to share. Another thing people are being to ask to bring this year is an item to donate to the Mayors Welcome Home Project.
The Welcome Home Project aims to help people, who were previously homeless, and are about to move into a new home. The idea is friends, family, and neighbors get together to create a basket of essential move-in items to help people settle in to their new homes.
You can bring any of the items. Drop them off at the VNC table at the BBQ…
The Venice BBQ is free and open to everyone. Bring the whole family. There will be a bounce house and special activities just for the kids. Plus, you can enjoy live music throughout the day.
The event is supported by the Venice Neighborhood Council and local Station 63 firefighters.
